Drowning in Confusion About Deep State Delusions: An Open Letter to Michele Bachmann Addressing Radio Show Interview Statements

Drowning in Confusion About Deep State Delusions: An Open Letter to Michele Bachmann Addressing Radio Show Interview Statements

Dear Ms. Bachmann,

I listened to the podcast “Drowning in Deep State Delusion (Part 1)” in which you were the featured guest.

It is obvious that you and your host are people with strong convictions and deep faith. I respect and honor that. I, too, consider myself a person with strong convictions and deep faith.

Respectfully, I am frankly quite puzzled by and in disagreement with a lot of what was said during this program.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. said, “Our lives begin to end the day we keep silent about things that matter.” I can no longer remain silent—especially when God is brought into political discourse to justify the antithesis of Christ-like behavior in words and deeds, particularly within the ranks of leadership of our country today.

I am addressing some of things said during the radio show and will begin with one of your statements:

“[Trump] is highly biblical, and I would say to your listeners, we will in all likelihood never see a more godly, biblical president again in our lifetime. So we need to be not only praying for him, we need to support him, in my opinion, in every possible way that we can.”

Your use of the term highly biblical is confusing to me. Essentially, the dictionary definition is “of or pertaining to the Bible.” My initial response: There are a plethora of things that are highly biblical—including Satan, the father of lies and the antichrist; deceivers and evil, vicious wolves; and lying and boasting, to name a few. Additionally, and more importantly: love, truth, light, compassion, honesty, not judging, and being commanded to love one another are highly biblical.

Are you referring to the first list or the second one? If you are referring to the latter, I am not witnessing much of that aspect in what the current president states (both verbally and via his tweets), in certain behaviors, and in policies he has either implemented or wants to implement. As a matter of fact, on a regular basis, there seems to be an onslaught of evil (meaning morally wrong, bad, harmful, or injurious) behaviors such as blasting, mocking, and attempting to belittle by name-calling of others, just to name a few.

How is this “godly”?

All of this—and more, is being done while enabling “whisperers,” who often lead with identifying themselves as a Christian (Evangelical or otherwise), concoct a defensive spin or interpretation, and in some cases, even intentionally lie (by repeated “slips of the tongue” and presenting “alternative facts”). They state that the words used were not the words meant.

Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.

(1 Corinthians 13:6 NIV)

I do agree that we live in perilous times and live within a culture of lies. We are told by those in leadership positions (and in positions that counsel and enable leadership) to suspend our cognitive intellect as we are told to believe “alternative facts.” The truth, evidenced by documents, research, and recordings, is denied and labeled as “fake” by the source of the comments and those enabling the obfuscation of the truth.

Some Facts

  • Promises have been broken to the entire nation (e.g., the sharing of tax returns).
  • Lies have been spoken to every U.S. taxpayer (e.g., Mexico will be paying for a wall).
  • Children have been abused and six have died as a result of the separation of families at the border.

Questions

How is the telling of lies and the separation of family members from each other congruent with the Christian faith, principles, and practices? How can Christians, who verbally profess the sanctity of families and preach that “families are sacred,” stand passively by? How can Christians support / enable / vote for those responsible for these types of actions?

As Christians, we are taught to “bring things to the light of truth” and “the truth will set you free.” Why, then, are documents being withheld? Why the resistance and refusal to produce documents requested? Why the stonewalling? Subpoenas not respected? Public hearings denied? Some hearings rushed? Lack of transparency? Cover-ups? Intentionally keeping things in the dark? As I was taught: light begets more light; truth begets more truth; love begets more love; darkness begets more darkness.

Consciously, willfully, and intentionally ignoring /denying the truth and supporting (e.g., contributing money, voting, rallying, and campaigning for) those that resist and even deny truth to coming to light and other anti-Christ-like behaviors, supports and enables the darkness to spread—metastasizing the darkness like a raging malignant cancer. When Christians (Evangelical or otherwise) decidedly and/or passively (by standing idly by) aid, abet, promulgate, and uphold the denial of the light of truth to come forward (and other dark deeds), it eats away at core Christian—and American values. These types of behaviors feed and fuel more darkness.

My question to you: How dark are you willing to let things become? How dark are you willing to let a political leader get before you and for those who have the same kind of religious and political views finally stand up and say STOP! Enough is enough! We are better and greater than this! As a Christian, I stand for truth and love.

Christians (Evangelical and otherwise): While those in political leadership positions and their enablers commit these types of evil atrocities while invoking the Bible and, essentially, the name of God (as if it were God’s will and has God’s seal of approval) and while we remain silent and/or passive, we are permitting and enabling these, and other heinous things, to happen. Silence and inaction equal tacit approval.

On a spiritual level, I believe our silence and inaction makes us equally culpable in these types of blasphemous, apostate-like actions. As a sister in Christ, I believe this: what is done to one is done to all; what we permit (through our silence and inaction) to be done to one makes us all culpable.

If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.

 (1 Cr 13:2)

You spoke a lot about the fulfilling of prophecies. While listening to your program, the following passages came to mind:

But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God—having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.

(2 Tim 3: 1–5 NIV)

Please read that list again. If this were a checklist of current qualities displayed by the current leadership of our country, truthfully, how many of these qualities would you check?

Who Am I?

I love God. I am a Christian. I am an American. I love my country. I love living under a democracy. I am all for capitalism. I am a voter. As such, these are some key leadership qualities that matter to me in my leaders—especially as they relate to politics and to those who that declare themselves to be Christian politicians—and particularly relate to a person who proclaims themselves to be a Christian president of the United States of America:

  • truthfulness
  • transparency
  • not withholding of the truth and information
  • keeping promises
  • compassionate
  • empathic
  • inclusive
  • accepting of diversity
  • respectful of others with differing points of view
  • willing to collaborate and cooperate with others who view things differently
  • seeks equality for all
  • uniting and unifying
  • leads with balance, harmony and unification—not divisiveness and against-ness
  • works well with others—including those who have a different point of view and/or political affiliation
  • cooperative and amiable
  • open to listening to the advice of experienced council
  • cares about and takes proactive measures to conserve and protect the environment
  • forward thinking
  • level-headedness / even tempered / rational—especially if and when provoked
  • non-vindictive
  • emotionally mature
  • not emotionally reactive / volatile / theatrical / melodramatic
  • possesses and leads with emotional intelligence
  • open mindedness
  • meaning what is said and saying what is meant
  • willing to consider research, facts, and evidence in their decision-making processes
  • humble and not continuously self-aggrandizing
  • having a “servant of our nation” attitude, mindset, and demeanor
  • mindful of our nation’s best interest / highest good and not being myopically self-centered, self-serving, and self-preserving
  • has a truly intelligent intellect and being modest about it, again, without self-aggrandizement
  • clear and correct understanding of and respect for the Constitution, branches of government, and their roles and function in servicing the entire nation.

Honestly and objectively, are you truly witnessing these qualities in our current leadership? I, for one, am not.

While I am speaking for myself and not formally or officially representing anyone other than myself, I know I am not alone in my perceptions and that I am, actually, speaking for many others. I know that this community is growing. I know this because of conversations I am having with people, particularly with those who are reaching out and seeking practical information, guidance, assistance, and support regarding consciously connecting more with God / Spirit / Highest Power as they seek better quality relationships with others, greater inner and outer peace, and love. Additionally, and almost invariably, the conversations include navigating how to be politically proactive—but coming from a more heart- and soul-centered place and energy. In other words, and paraphrasing Einstein, the problem cannot be solved at the same level / energy in which it was created. The negativity—from all sides—has to stop. As Christians, let’s take the lead and strive to lead by example.

Moving Forward

My request to you, the program’s host, and to those who identify themselves as Christians (Evangelical or otherwise) is to stop judging, vilifying, and demonizing those that do not agree with your political perspective as “godless atheists” who want to “get rid of faith and freedoms.” The act of spreading this type of lie in the guise of a “decidedly Christian perspective” is ignorant at best—creating fear and further separation among American sisters and brothers—and an attempt to castigate other Christians, which is an example of what I label “Christian judgmentalism” and “Christian judge-mentality.” Wouldn’t Christian judgmentalism be considered a “sin”—especially when you consider that we are instructed by the Bible not to judge? To me, this type of behavior is a perfect example of Christianity “run amuck.”

Another question: If you, as an example, label or judge a more supportive health and education system as “socialist,” what are you personally doing to support your fellow Americans—your sister and brothers—in those arenas? What would you call it? What do you have to offer?

How about striving—all of us, regardless of political party leaning and/or affiliation—and especially those who profess to be Christians (Evangelical or otherwise)—for a more heart-and soul-centered political environment? For respectful communication with compassionate listening? How about deeply listening to one another—and working toward positive and supportive resolutions?

Politically speaking, it is my intention to strive for the best of everything within America. I am committed to working towards this vision: having a democratic, heart-centered / compassionate, capitalist, supportive government—with equality (rights, pay, protections, health care), liberty and justice for all.

We—all of us—are sisters and brothers in Christ. If we take this truth to heart and allow that to be our one of our core guiding principles, we will truly then become not only “one nation under God”—we will become one nation with God.

Bottom Line

Regardless of what political “side of the aisle” you favor, behaviors such as

  • mud-slinging
  • name-calling
  • revenge / avenging / a “10 times harder” type of attitude
  • lying and attempts to deceive / mislead / cover-up
  • hubris (“I alone can do this” / “Only I can do this” / “I am the best …” type of attitude)
  • suggesting, condoning, and even approval of violence and aggression toward others
  • insulting / mocking / berating / disparaging
  • inciting and promoting assaults and batteries
  • instigating, encouraging, and threatening retaliation
  • against-ness (person-against-person and American-against-American)
  • lying / repeated “slips of the tongue” / “alternative facts”
  • spreading “doctored” propaganda videos and misinformation
  • denying the Truth
  • not coming forward with the Truth and
  • death threats levied by followers—regardless of the side / political affiliation

has to end NOW—especially and particularly by those who profess to be followers of Jesus.

True Christian principles of loving all others, being nonjudgmental, and helping others who are in need is not what I am hearing from those who are politically vocal and lead with identifying themselves as Christians (Evangelical or otherwise).

Time and time again, I hear what appears to be “defenses” of those currently in government leadership positions in our country, who habitually exhibit the behaviors mentioned above, by those who identify themselves as Christians (Evangelical or otherwise). Their “defense” is, in actuality, merely an attack against ghosts of presidents and presidential candidates of races past. The other most often trotted-out “defense” by self-proclaimed Christian supporters attempting to excuse and mitigate the behaviors and those who exhibit the behaviors: the voted-for position was for president—not pope.

Does this mean that the behaviors mentioned above, while not acceptable for the position of pope, are acceptable to Christians (Evangelical or otherwise) for the president of the United States of America to embody and employ?

Seriously?!!?

As a Christian—and simply as someone who strives to be a civil human being—these behaviors and attitudes are not acceptable.

There are those, again, who identify themselves as Christians (Evangelical or otherwise) who justify any and all antithesis of Christian words, acts, and policies in this way: we have a “thriving economy” and an upswing (truly?) in manufacturing work in the U.S. Does that “justification” imply that money matters more than morals? Is it cash over Christ and core Christian principles? And politicians (aspiring or otherwise) who enable them and/or remain silent—or are vocal yet do not take actions—are they more concerned about their job security than about upholding sacred Christian principles?

If another reason for supporting certain candidates is because of their anti-abortion stance, which appears not to embrace and encompass being “pro” of all lives throughout life, surely there are other representatives who truly “walk their Christian talk.” As Christians, we should be supporting True Christian principles and candidates who promote being:

  • pro-all-of-life while upholding our freedoms to choose
  • inclusive
  • supportive
  • compassionate
  • truthful / transparent
  • forward thinking
  • nonjudgmental
  • willing to work with others, regardless of their political party affiliation, to improve our country’s infrastructure and the quality of life and care for all, and
  • willing to work toward truly uniting and unifying us as one nation under a loving God.

Ms. Bachmann, while you and your host may be “Drowning in Deep State Delusion,” many people, including myself and other Christians, feel like we are drowning in a concocted deep delusional state—and the seeming hypocrisy that accompanies it.

I Agree

In the quote featured in the beginning of this letter, you also said: “So we need to be not only praying for him [Trump], we need to support him, in my opinion, in every possible way that we can.”

There is a difference between enabling / being part of the perceived problem and being part of the solution. I am choosing to be part of the solution by speaking up, offering positive, proactive solutions, and being compassionate toward everyone involved. I request the same from others—especially from those who identify themselves as Christians.

I agree that we should pray for the person that currently occupies the position of president—and I do. Daily. Additionally, I strongly believe that we should pray for all of our leaders. I pray that those in leadership positions awaken to and align with the Truth of Divine Love and Light Within—their hearts and souls, which resides within themselves and within all others—and lead accordingly.

Ms. Bachmann, I pray for you and the host of the program, for those who have heard / hear the program—and for those who read this letter. I also pray for myself and for all of my fellow American sisters and brothers, that we all experience a conscious awakening and connection with our own souls and to the souls within each and every one, and live—act, speak, lead, legislate, and vote—accordingly.

And to All of My Fellow Americans…

Prayer and “thoughts and prayers” alone, however, will not suffice. More heart-centered, compassionate steps must be taken at the same time—by all of us.

One of those steps is to vote. Allow your heart and soul to be present—and activated—while making your decisions. Each and every one of us is accountable for our own thoughts, words, perceptions, perspectives, actions, reactions, and inactions. Who—and what—are you supporting?

Don’t let anyone or anything—live or virtual, written online, spoken on radio or television, news, or entertainment network-produced personality opinion shows that label themselves as “news,” edited / “doctored” videos, sermons from pulpits, or even this letter—be the determining factor regarding how to vote. What I am advocating is to pray and to tap into the Heart of God and to the Heart of God within you—your soul—and vote for someone who is committed to moving our country forward in a constructive, uniting, unifying, inclusive, and compassionate—to all Americans—manner.

We can make the United States exactly that—united—and G.R.E.A.T.—not in an egocentric way, but in the way, I believe, God intended and wants us to be:

God-centered and Grateful
Respectful and Resilient
Ethical and Empathic
Altruistic and All-Inclusive
Truthful, Transformative, and Triumphant

We can do this!

God bless America—and each and every one of us.

Linda Humphreys, Ph.D.
